JIMMY HILL (1945-2000)

New Zealand-born musician Jimmy Hill died in November 2000 at Gosford, north of Sydney. Jimmy, who was 55, will be best remembered as the drummer in two of New Zealand’s top bands of the 1960s, Ray Columbus & The Invaders and Max Merritt & The Meteors.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Jimmy was being treated for a heart ailment at Gosford Hospital at the time of his death.

Ray Columbus paid tribute to Jimmy, saying: “He was a wonderful singer and songwriter, and he was a fantastic drummer.”
