MILESAGO - Television
ACCESS |
Date: 1974 Producer/host: Robert Moore |
NOTES |
Access was a weekly public affairs forum designed to enable community groups to debate current topics. The series was hosted by Robert Moore (Monday Conference), who was assigned to the project in early 1974. It lasted only one series because of poor ratings. The concept was based on the BBC public access programme Open Door. When the request for participants was advertised, 440 groups replied asking for time. Of those, 230 returned applications, from which Moore and his team selected thirteen groups in Sydney and Melbourne. The results were disappointing, largely due to the inexperience of the participating groups and the consequent lack of focus in the shows. The ABC did not make a second series and Moore returned to his role as host of Monday Conference.
